External Funding support for Businesses in Redcar & Cleveland
My name is Adrian Harris and I am the External Funding Lead for Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.
I have been seeking out funding now for nearly 16 years in all its guises and have seen how differing governments support businesses through all types of different ideas.
The main route of late has always been through the European Funding Programmes, whether this is the European Regional Development Programme or European Social Fund even the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, but as we can guess certain changes in that direction may reduce the impact of this going forward, but chasing behind is the promised UK Shared Prosperity Fund expected to be run through the Local Enterprise Partnerships, of course as I type this until our government sorts out BREXIT it is difficult to focus on any of this and the longer term impacts, if we adopt a Norway approach then of course we could still be very eligible to bid for the EU programmes mentioned above. after all we know it is going to happen we just do not know when.
In the mean-time funding for businesses feels a little piecemeal, and the term ‘grant’ invariably is replaced by the word ‘loan’ recently the External Funding Report (email me direct if you want to go on the distribution) has reported on the renewed support from Barclays Bank announcing it is establishing a new £14 billion lending fund which forms part of an overarching initiative designed to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) ‘flourish’ after Brexit.
Looking for grants or finance? a good place to start is here CLICK just register and run a search for funding and see what emerges, there are new options all the time being posted up or old grants reopening.
Don’t ignore the ‘Awards’ these are great for establishing your business in the limelight and great evidence for future bids and who knows if you win there might just be a cash prize at the end of it, but the kudos could be worth lots more.
